Careerbuilder CEO Matt Ferguson – Where are the Jobs?

November 6, 2009

As unemployment rose to 10.2%, the highest it’s been since April of 1983, the economy also continued to lose jobs.  Although the rate is declining month over month, we still lost 190,000 jobs in nonfarm payroll employment for the month of October.

Eye of the unemployment storm is a great chance to recruit

August 13, 2009

Last Friday’s BLS job report was the eye of the unemployment hurricane. There are many theories about why this unexpected slowing in job loss is happening. I believe the slow can be directly linked to the Trillions of dollars the Obama administration has put into the economy over the past few months. Kudos to them for putting a stop to the bleeding but it is only temporary. Just like the brief calm at the eye of the storm this feels good, but don’t forget that the worst part is yet to come. Many believe we will see a 10% or 10.5% unemployment rate before the situation gets better in 2010. If we are looking at the glass as half full, and this is in fact the eye of the unemployment storm, at least it means it is half way over, right?

The Red Flags Rule, a law the FTC will begin to enforce on August 1, 2009, requires certain businesses and organizations — including many doctors’ offices, hospitals, and other health care providers — to develop a written program to spot the warning signs — or “red flags” — of identity theft. Is your practice covered by the Red Flags Rule? If so, have you developed your Identity Theft Prevention Program to detect, prevent, and minimize the damage that could result from identity theft?

White House hits the Web to dispel reform rumors …

August 11, 2009

In a “dear friend” letter, President Barack Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod announced that the administration was launching a new online resource—WhiteHouse.gov/RealityCheck—to help distinguish the truth about the president’s reform efforts. “Anyone that’s watched the news in the past few days knows that health insurance reform is a hot topic—and that rumors and scare tactics have only increased as more people engage with the issue. Given a lot of the outrageous claims floating around, it’s time to make sure everyone knows the facts about the security and stability you get with health insurance reform,” Axelrod wrote.

Recent town hall meetings held by Democratic lawmakers have been besieged by angry critics who are upset with the direction reforms are taking on Capitol Hill.
